Bessie currently works from Wimbledon Art Studios, her images are painted “en plein air” and from memory and sketches back in the studio.

Bessie captures fleeting moments exploring colour, texture and pattern to construct her images. Inspiration comes from the world around her. Her painting trips locally and further a field feed her images. She finds solstice in calm landscapes amongst the bustle of London life, whether it is a seascape with a horizon as far as the eye can see or the beautiful forms and colours inherent in the view in front of her. She hopes to transport the viewer with her to another place.

Bessie graduated with a first from Edinburgh College of Art and then went on to gain a postgraduate diploma in 2000. She has worked in schools, museums and galleries as an artist educator exhibiting widely at international fairs and exhibitions including the V & A and 100% Design.

Bessie is an artist who works in a wide variety of media.
