Candida Slater was born in 1946 educated at the Maynard School, Exeter and Manchester University. After a career in diplomacy, she has been painting professionally since the late 1990s.

Her work explores the balance between colour, light, movement and form, and the deeper spaces that lie beneath the surface of shifting patterns.
