James' artwork reflects the contrasting landscapes of countryside and city. Most paintings are done on location. His art was exhibited in numerous national exhibitions and regularly featured in the Mall Galleries, London. His primary interest is light and colour. The endless exploration of its portrayal in various painted mediums is an on-going endeavour. Inspired by the techniques of artists John Singer Sargent, Joaquin Sorolla and William Nicholson, James is interested in resonating a contemporary yet timeless ambience, connecting with people and places.
