I have always loved drawing. After studying at Wimbledon School of Art I then went on to have a career in design later returning to drawing and full time painting.
My work is varied but my starting point for all my work is my enthusiasm for the subject matter. I invariably start any work with my sketchbook. A lively charcoal drawing will be the basis of my painting. I try to retain the drawings freshness and energy in paint. Painting in oils by layering and balancing one colour against another, blocking out areas and redefining until the painting takes on a new life of its own. The resulting image may have moved a long way from its initial impeteus.
