Date: 26th June 2024

Overview

Join your fellow artist community for a supportive coaching session designed to help you further your professional and creative practice. Claudia Kennaugh, founder of Art & People, will be hosting an open topic workshop inviting you to seek guidance in any area you need. Whether you’d like help with pricing, advice on galleries, practice talking and selling, or feedback on a work in progress, this is your space to grow.

The intimate group of 7 artists will be invited to present their work individually. Each artist will receive 15 mins of focus on their practice and everyone is encouraged to contribute ideas for a free flowing exchange of advice. Come and check in wherever you’re at so you can take your next steps with more confidence.

Technical notes

Artists will share images of their work on screen for reference during the session. These can be completed works available to view on a website / instagram or unpublished pieces saved on their computer. Please contact hello@artandpeople.co for access requests.

Facilitator Bio

Art & People is a Bristol-based art advisory service offering guidance to artists and collectors. Founded in 2019 by Claudia Kennaugh in response to 15 years working in the arts as a musician and performing artist, then gallery partner and art advisor. Claudia brings her dual experience to support artists’ professional development with 121 sessions, talks, tutorials and workshops that foster thriving artist communities. Art & People runs development programming for studio groups and arts organisations including Artes Mundi, Bow Arts Trust, Farnham Maltings, Jackson’s Art Supplies, Kindred Studios, Spike Island, Visual Artists Ireland and Wimbledon Art Studios. Claudia has been a judge on the Jackson’s Painting Prize, a speaker at Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair and is an artist mentor on the BBC One TV programme Make it at Market Series II.

Over her years co-running the Hollywood Road Gallery, London, Claudia sourced works from the UK, Europe & South America to curate annual exhibitions and fairs. She carefully nurtured the careers of their represented artists and offered bespoke services to the gallery collectors, helping them to buy, frame and hang art in their homes. Today Art & People hosts an annual charity exhibition, Precious Postcards. This open call collection is an opportunity for largely unrepresented artists to sell their works to collectors and galleries, whilst raising funds for the FoodCycle charity.

‘‘ Artists are often on the back foot due to a lack of knowledge and support. I want to help change that.’’ - Claudia Kennaugh
